The project is a 13,000 sf commercial interior fit out located in Alexandria, VA. The design converts unoccupied shell space into a child care facility for 166 children from ages 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Support functions for the facility include a food warming kitchen
area, offices, teaching media room and laundry facilities. Infant rooms include baby changing tables and a designated crib area. The older children’s rooms include height appropriate bathroom facilities, art sink, furniture and individual cubby space. When the weather does not permit access to the exterior 5000 sf ADA accessible
playground, the facility uses a large movement room, complete with low climbing walls, ballet bars, and other play equipment. The design of the facility color scheme adds interest to the eye and keeps the spaces lively for the children.
